The Humane Society relies heavily on its fundraising events every year to support its operational costs. We have several signature events that are held every year when we truly rely on the help from our volunteer staff.
Every October, we hold our Mutt March Walkathon where animals lovers in our area gather at Memorial Park, along with their pets, and walk to help raise money to support the shelter animals. And every February, we hold our Paws & Claws Gala, which is a formal sit down dinner event with dancing, entertainment, and silent and live auctions.
These and other various events that are held throughout the year require much preparation and the planning begins months in advance. Volunteers participate by serving on planning committees or by lending a hand at the events with the silent or live auction, registration, selling raffle tickets, and decorations just to mention a few. It's fun, entertaining and rewarding. Training is different and specific for each event.
(Remember, to begin your service with us, we require your attendance at our Volunteer Orientation).
