Stuart, Fla./May 12, 2014 — This year’s Humane Society of the Treasure Coast’s (HSTC) BunFest will keep bunnies and their owners hopping on Sat., May 31, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Martin County Fairgrounds, 2616 SE Dixie Hwy, Stuart. Event admission is free for those 10 years and under and $2 for all others. Donations will be appreciated for some of the activities.

Many activities will be held during this indoor and outdoor event. For rabbits needing to be spayed or neutered, services will be available for $30. For a small donation, those looking for a “Bunny Glamour Shot” can have a professional photo taken using props and a fun background. A number of bunnies and other critters also will be available for adoption.

Special educational seminars will be offered at this year’s event. Bunny Basics, 11:15 a.m. – noon, is a basic training class for first time bunny parents; Basic Rabbit Emergency Care, 1:15 p.m. – 2 p.m., will cover various emergency topics such as syringe feeding; The Organized Bunny Home & Shelter Organization, 2:15 p.m. – 3 p.m., will provide fun and simple ideas for record keeping, organization, and “clean secrets.”

Rabbit owners are invited to bring their healthy bunnies to the event but they must be in a pet stroller, pet carrier or carried in a proper harness at all times. Rabbits are not permitted to run loose. Owners are responsible for their rabbit’s safety, care and comfort. No other animals are permitted to attend BunFest.

A rabbit spa, food trucks, a live DJ, giveaways and raffles are also features of this event. For more information, call Sara Kyle at the HSTC at 772-223-8822 or 772-708-9668, e-mail, or visit
