Shelter Pups & Coffee Cups debuts at Palm City Starbucks

Palm City, Fla. — The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast has kicked off a new program called “Shelter Pups and Coffee Cups!” in partnership with Starbucks in Palm City. Each Thursday, a volunteer picks up one of the shelter’s adoptable dogs and takes the pet to Starbucks from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. A Starbucks employee treats the dog to a “Puppuccino.”

“Puppuccinos are basically just whipped cream in a cup and the best part is that it’s free of charge,” said Sarah Fisher, the Humane Society’s volunteer program manager and mobile adoption coordinator.

In addition, each shelter dog taken to Starbucks will be the featured dog of the week and the pet’s adoption information will be displayed on the Starbucks’ bulletin board.

“This program is just one additional way to increase our shelter dogs’ chances of getting adopted and into their forever home,” explained Fisher. “We are grateful for Starbucks’ support.”

The participating volunteers include Shaun Kelly, Jennifer Renfro, Paige Trenchard and Lisa Cirminiello. All of these volunteers are trained to complete an adoption so customers can adopt right from Starbucks and bring the dog home if it is a good fit. Volunteers who are interested in participating in the program should contact Sarah Fisher via email at SFisher@hstc1.org or by calling her at (772) 600-3217.
