Humane Society of the Treasure Cost, Inc.

Cleanliness and safe-handling of the cats is imperative.  In this area, the volunteer will learn to handle our cats, participate in morning feeding, refresh litter boxes and see that cages are kept clean and tidy.  It is also important for the well-being of our feline guests that they be socialized through human contact.  Volunteers will sit with the pets and present them to prospective adopters aiding in the adoption process.  Healthy, clean, well-socialized cates get adopted...and that's just what we want!

Cat care training usually takes place on Wednesday evenings from 5:00-6:45 p.m. and on Thursday afternoons from 3:00-4:45 p.m.  One session is required, unless the trainer suggests any additional training.

(Remember, to begin your service with us, you must attend an orientation and be scheduled for training by the Volunteer Coordinator).

Once you "graduate" from Cat Care training, you're ready to schedule yourself for a weekly time and begin bringing joy to our many friends.

If you would like to schedule an orientation or have more questions about volunteering, please contact Bitsy McKay at bmckay@hstc1.org or call (772) 600-3217. To return to the Volunteer Main page, please click here.
