Operation Greek Relief to benefit the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast

Supporters of the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast (HSTC) can help the shelter pets and satisfy their taste buds at the same time during “Operation Greek Relief.” This special promotion will take place from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Mon., Feb. 3 to Sun., Feb. 9, at Spiro’s Olympic Taverna, 2770 SW Martin Downs Blvd., Palm City. During “Operation Greek Relief,” the restaurant will donate 15 percent of every lunch and dinner purchase made by diners who mention the promotion or bring in a promotional flyer available at the shelter, thrift stores or http://www.hstc.org. Since 1955, the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, located at 4100 SW Leighton Farm Ave. in Palm City, has been the leading advocate for animal welfare in the Martin County area. A 501(c)3 private, nonprofit organization, the Humane Society relies on donations, wills and bequests to support its programs and services.

World Spay Day is Feb. 25

The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast (HSTC) is participating in the World Spay Day Event, sponsored by the HSTC and the Spay Neuter Coalition, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., Feb. 25, 4100 SW Leighton Farm Ave., Palm City. The program’s goal is to increase awareness of the importance of spaying and neutering one’s pet. During World Spay Day, pre-registered pet owners will drop their pet off at different intervals throughout the day for surgical sterilization. The HSTC has 70 appointments available for sterilization. The event is planned to go on until all of the scheduled animals have received surgery. The cost of the surgery is $60 for dogs, $40 for rabbits, and $30 for cats. The fee will cover the sterilization, microchip, and rabies vaccination (if the pet is at least four months old at the time of surgery). Bubbles Express Wash fundraiser to benefit Humane Society

Bubbles Express Wash — Stuart’s newest “green” community-friendly car wash — is hosting a fundraising opportunity to benefit the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast (HSTC) from Monday, Feb. 24 – Sunday, March 2 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mon. through Sat. and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 2160 NW Federal Highway, Stuart. Bubbles will give $5 to the HSTC for every customer who buys a $20 Bubbles Express Wash gift card. Each gift card purchaser will receive a free Ultimate Wash ($14 value) and the $20 gift card to give or use another time. Each car wash lasts five minutes using soft touch equipment and is environmentally friendly, using only nine gallons of fresh water per car. Bubbles’ washes include free vacuum use.

Artists to participate in “Quick-Fire Paint Off” to benefit Humane Society

It may be hard to believe that a beautiful painting can be created in two hours or less, but that’s exactly what happens during Alizarin Crimson Studio’s Quick-Fire Paint Off & Auction event. Now in its fourth year, this event benefits the shelter animals at the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast (HSTC). Admission is $10 to watch the creativity unfold and also includes sparkling wine and hors d’oeuvres, courtesy of Chantal’s South Florida Distinctive Catering, from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., March 20, at Alizarin Crimson Studio, 2611 SE Ocean Blvd. in Stuart. Alizarin Crimson Studio owner Georgia Abood is hosting the event and she also is one of the participating artists. Up to 11 additional artists will join her, including Mallo Bisset, Neil Capozzi, Duane Hatfield, Pamela Hoke, Kevin Hutchinson and Joe Marmo.
Artists to participate in “Quick-Fire Paint Off” to benefit Humane Society

Now is the time to register your dog for the seventh annual Mutt Derby Watching dogs of all breeds and sizes sprint down the race track at the seventh annual Mutt Derby prompts plenty of smiles and laughter and it’s all for a worthy cause: To raise funds for the shelter animals at the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast (HSTC). Organized by The Fur Seasons and presented by Seacoast National Bank, the event highlight is watching the dogs race toward their owners. The Mutt Derby will take place 8:15 a.m.-noon, Sat., March 29, at The Fur Seasons, a luxury dog and cat boarding facility and pet resort, 1310 SW Commerce Way, in Stuart. Admission is free. Barbie introduces La ‘Bark’tique!

A fashion, clothing and Barbie collection event being hosted by the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., April 4-6, at its two thrift stores in Stuart, 2585 SE Federal Hwy. and 1099 NW 21st Street. HSTC Thrift Store Director Claudia Cobble asked, “Who better to introduce HSTC Thrift Store’s new boutique section, La ‘Bark’tique, than the original fashionista herself? Barbie and all her doll friends featuring designer women’s clothing!” Thanks to the generosity of donors, the thrift stores were able to create a boutique section of modern label, designer and specialty clothing for both women and men. The section was named La ‘Bark’tique” in honor of the deserving pets the HSTC has in its shelter that are waiting to be adopted. The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast (HSTC) is participating in the Great Give Martin event on May 6 and offering “give backs” of its own for anyone who supports its cause during this 24-hour online giving event. Designed to raise as much money as possible for local nonprofits in a single day, this event has been organized by the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties, Martin County Community Foundation and the United Way of Martin County. Those who donate $50 or more to the HSTC during this May 6 online event will receive either a 50 percent discount off of a dog or cat adoption at the HSTC’s shelter or $30 off of an HSTC obedience class. Humane Society invites rabbit lovers to BunFest

This year’s Humane Society of the Treasure Coast’s (HSTC) BunFest will keep bunnies and their owners hopping on Sat., May 31, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Martin County Fairgrounds, 2616 SE Dixie Hwy, Stuart. Event admission is free for those 10 years and under and $2 for all others. Donations will be appreciated for some of the activities. Many activities will be held during this indoor and outdoor event. For rabbits needing to be spayed or neutered, services will be available for $30. For a small donation, those looking for a “Bunny Glamour Shot” can have a professional photo taken using props and a fun background. A number of bunnies and other critters also will be available for adoption.
Humane Society invites rabbit lovers to BunFest

The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast (HSTC) hosted its second annual Donor Appreciation Evening. The reception began with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at Eric Michaels Fine Jewelry, hosted by owner Eric Paul. Guests were then treated to the show, “Guys & Dolls,” at the Lyric Theatre in downtown Stuart. The evening recognized 80 members of the HSTC Caregivers Guardian Circle and the Lifetime Legacy Circle.
