Humane Society to offer discounted neuter cat surgery

The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast (HSTC) is looking to neuter 60 male cats in one day on Tuesday, May 24. They’re targeting male cats over four months and will offer special pricing. The event will take place at the HSTC’s shelter, 4100 SW Leighton Farm Ave., in Palm City from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. The sterilization fee is $10 — half the normal cost — and includes a microchip and a rabies vaccination.

Nearly everyday, some of the faces leave.

The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast celebrated mothers of both two-legged and four-legged “children” at its inaugural Mother’s Day Lunch and Doggie Fashion Show.

The event, held May 5 at Renato’s Italian Ristorante & Grille in Sewall’s Point, raised $3,240 to benefit the animals at its Palm City shelter.

Jingle all the way to the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast’s (HSTC) Thrift Store for the sixth annual “Christmas in July” Extravaganza that starts Saturday, July 9 and continues through Saturday, July 16. Sponsored by Eventmakers International, the Santa overload features more than 5,000 items in stock. The Thrift Store is located at 2585 SE Federal Highway in Stuart and is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

Sign Up now for Humane Society pet therapy and foundations classes

The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast is offering two classes for dogs: A Pet Therapy class and a Foundations class.

As with last summer, the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast is reaching overcrowded conditions at its Palm City shelter. To encourage summer adoptions, the HSTC is once again offering its “Priceless Pets Promotion” — a program that invites qualified adopters to name their price to adopt the dog or cat of their choice. The normal adoption fee is $90 for dogs and $35 for cats. All reasonable offers will be accepted. The program will begin July 1 and continue until the shelter returns to its normal capacity.
