Head on over to the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast just before the 4th of July to take advantage of an Independence Day adoption special. From July 1-3 and July 5-8, all adoptions will be reduced to the patriotic price of just $17.76. The normal dog adoption fee is $100; cats, $40; and critters range from $5 to $40.
Dog, cat and critter adoptions are available at the HSTC shelter, 4100 SW Leighton Farm Ave., in Palm City. Cats also may be adopted at the HSTC Thrift Store, 2585 SE Federal Highway, Stuart, and starting July 5, also at the HSTC’s Thrift Store North, 1099 NW 21st St., Stuart (this location is closed on Sun. and Mon.).
