Carsons Tavern Manager Candace Callahan has committed to dancing for dogs, cats and all of the shelter animals at the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast (HSTC). She and her dance partner, Travis Scott of Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Stuart, will dance the night away at the Charity Masquerade Dance Party, 6 to 10 p.m. on Oct. 18, at the Kane Center in Stuart. The Woman’s Club of Stuart and Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Stuart are hosting the event, which will benefit seven additional local charities.
Eight volunteer dancers will be paired with a dance professional from Fred Astaire Dance Studio and will perform a choreographed dance routine. The public may support the HSTC through Callahan’s efforts by purchasing a ticket and attending her pre-event dance party at 5:30 p.m., Sept. 25, at Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Stuart; by becoming a sponsor or donating an auction item for the event; or by buying a ticket to the main event on Oct. 18. “I am very excited to be working with the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast for this event,” said Callahan. “Their staff and volunteers are amazing and they really care about finding good homes for the animals and matching up the right pet to the right family. My dad calls me ‘Dance’ so it’s only fitting to be dancing in this event.”
Callahan and Carsons Tavern also support the HSTC through its sponsorship of the annual Mutt March, the shelter’s annual walk for the animals to be held on Nov. 1 in Memorial Park in Stuart. Carsons Tavern has supported this event for more than five years.
