Sailfish Splash Waterpark is going to the dogs — literally — for one day only as part of the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast’s third annual Santa Paws Pooch Plunge. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 3, the HSTC will host this event at Sailfish Splash Waterpark, 931 SE Ruhnke Street, in Stuart. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.
Dogs of all sizes and breeds are expected to come out for a play date of their own, barking and splashing their way to help the HSTC raise money to care for its shelter dogs. Admission for this splash fest is $10 per dog. For those in the giving spirit, House of Hope also will be on site collecting unwrapped gifts for local children in need.
During the event, the pool will be dedicated to the dogs before the facility closes for the winter. In addition to the swim sessions, Santa will pose for doggie pictures while festive music plays and dogs head to the “spaw” retreat for a little pampering. Dog owners can even get their dogs microchipped at the event and one lucky person will win a 50/50 raffle. There also will be food trucks in the “barking lot.”
There are a few requirements. Dogs must be at least three months old and the owner must show proof of the dog’s rabies vaccination or a county license. Dogs must be leashed outside of the swimming area and no retractable leashes are allowed. Owners must clean up after their dogs and dogs that are in heat should be left at home as well as aggressive and overly timid dogs. This is a “dog only” event — no other pets.
